Bushmills Whiskey – 10 Year Old Single Malt

This triple distilled whiskey is full of flavour and is light on the palate.  Matured in Bourbon barrels, the end result is a drink that is well balanced and uncomplicated.

The spiciness comes through on the nose with distinct notes of fruit teasing the palate, with the sherry being very noticeable. There is a real depth to the flavour with subtle hints of oak, all the while there is the fresh burst of floral notes which collide with the fruit on the palate. It is quite smooth and light and perfect during the summer thanks to the fruity overtones.

The spiciness is very pleasing because it stops the drink from being too sweet – the oak hints are pleasing on the palate, giving a slight woodiness which marry well with the floral notes.

Bushmills 16 Year Old Single Malt

This stunning single malt from the excellent Bushmills range is aged in Bourbon, Sherry and Port wine casks, creating a truly sublime and smooth whiskey which is rich on the palate with notes of old spice and sweet honey coming through. Barley is noticeable and there is an aniseed taste which is subtle, yet it still delivers a clean taste for such a complex and clever whiskey.

There is a distinct almond and sherry flavour which combines well with the honey and spice, delivering a unique and delicious drink which is further enhanced by the maturity and complexity of using three different casks.

Indeed, there is a real earthy overtone to the drink however it manages to retain a light flavour, despite its robust earthy notes. This easy to drink, yet rich whiskey is perfect for the cold winter months without being too heavy.  The almonds and honey are incredibly pleasing and make an interesting contrast to the spice.

Bushmills 1608 Limited Edition 400th Anniversary

This special limited edition blend to commemorate the 400th anniversary is a beautiful, blended whiskey, unusually using crystal malt.  It has distinct fruity notes, complemented by a light smoky flavour which is slightly earthy.  Notes of vanilla add just the right amount of sweetness with floral notes gently teasing the palate. The floral and fruity flavours work really well together without being too powerful.

The end result is a smooth, well rounded drink which manages to perfectly balance the subtle flavours, leaving a lingering fruit sensation.  A defined and robust whiskey which should be part of any decent whiskey collection!

Bushmills 21 Year Old Single Malt

Aged for an amazing twenty one years in Bourbon and Sherry casks, this rare whiskey, with a Madeira finish is full of rich spice with distinct notes of grapefruit and raisins, complemented with ginger, offering something very sweet but with a gorgeous spicy kick.

Lovely and rich on the palate, it is quite smooth and is definitely an expertly created single malt which has been cleverly aged to produce its distinct and sublime flavour. It offers something a little bit deeper and richer, compared perhaps to other Bushmill varieties, however this is why it is one of the more superior whiskeys in the Bushmills range.

The spice lingers on the palate and works wonderfully well with the ginger and slightly bitter taste of grapefruit. Naturally the maturity of this whiskey means it will always produce a slightly more robust, richer and earthier drink but this just makes it a cut above the rest.

There is a real winter feel to this drink – you get a hint of clove which works nicely with the grapefruit and raisins.

    Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey

This triple distilled whiskey which is aged in sherry casks for around ten years is earthy and rich and delivers the sublime taste of raisin and coconut, with a hint of chocolate and apple.

It is sweet, well rounded and perfect for winter with the warming spice gently coming through on the palate.

    Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey

A triple distilled grain whiskey, this is pleasantly light on the palate, with gentle floral notes coming through which makes it easy to drink. There is a hint of spice which rounds things off nicely and is quite refreshing thanks to the floral notes that come through on the palate.
